As a professional gerontologist, Sara is an expert in the field of aging and has assisted thousands of families faced with challenges associated with eldercare. She has a passion for interacting with seniors and their families to identify and apply an effective plan of action according to their unique needs. Whether creating a plan to prevent a crisis situation in the future or addressing an immediate need for decisive action, Sara responds efficiently and with compassion to implement appropriate solutions.
Her background includes over 12 years of expertise in a variety of areas within the aging industry. While earning her graduate degree, Sara contributed to research at the University of Arizona Center on Aging, gathering data from local seniors and assisting in the statistical evaluation of social service programs.
She held management roles at several retirement, assisted living and Alzheimer's communities including La Posada in Southern Arizona; Leisure Care communities in Washington and Arizona; and Merrill Gardens communities throughout Washington State. Sara then became an eldercare advisor with A Place For Mom, the nation's largest eldercare referral service. Most recently, she was the Director of Services at Benevia, which assists older adults and their families during the process of downsizing and relocating.
Sara holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Management from Washington State University and a M.S. in Gerontology from the University of Arizona. She is a member of the Gerontological Professionals Network of the Greater Seattle Area and a current board member of Elderwise, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing holistic day programs and outreach programs for those with dementia. Sara has contributed articles to the University of Arizona Alumni Newsletter; Northwest Prime Time, a Seattle newspaper for seniors and Baby Boomers; and SeniorHomes.com, a nationwide senior care directory based in Seattle.
